Celebrating International Fairy Day

International Fairy Day
June 24th
On June 24th we celebrated International Fairy Day.

We dressed up as elves or fairies.
The girls looked gorgeous and the boys were so handsome as elves or Peter Pan

We had fairy bread...yum

We made Fairies in a jar and... they glow in the dark

We made crystals

Mila was much happier when she took of dress, so we took another photo :)

Gymnastics Trip

Wednesday 18th June 2014

Today we went to New Lynn Gymnastics Centre.  We were all very excited, we got on the bus, we went around the roundabout and then the bus broke down.  So we got off the bus, we went back to class and we waited, patiently, for another bus.

Finally, we got to the gymnastics centre and the fun began.

Maia's Mum showing us how to do cartwheels - way to go Mum!

Our wonderful Teacher Aide Mrs McKinney showing us her fabulous cartwheels.

A Huge Thank You to all of the wonderful parents who helped on our trip today.  Without your help trips like this just couldn't happen.

Investigating Glow Sticks

Room 3 were interested in how glow sticks work, so today we had an investigation to see for ourselves.  First we had to find somewhere dark, and as our classroom walls are mostly windows we put blankets over the tables and crawled underneath.

Then Miss O'Kane showed us a giant glow stick and told us that when you snap the stick the glass inside the plastic breaks, and the chemicals mix which makes the glow.

Then we each got our own glow stick and snapped them, making them glow.

It was really cool learning about glow sticks.

  • 1.5 cups whipping cream
  • 1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups of chocolate chips (milk chocolate OR semi-sweet depending on how sweet you like it. I have a heck of a sweet tooth, and I love the milk chocolate, but others prefer the semi-sweet)
Instructions

Stir together the whipping cream, milk, vanilla, and chocolate chips in a crockpot.
Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until mixture is hot and chocolate chips are melted. Stir again before serving. Garnish as desired.
